Paul Quinn Men’s Soccer Draws 2–2 Against Our Lady of the Lake in Physical Battle
September 7, 2025 | San Antonio, TX The Paul Quinn College men’s soccer team fought to a hard-earned 2–2 draw on the road Sunday against Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) in a match that featured late drama, plenty of chances, and multiple cards.
The Saints struck first in the 14th minute when Oli White finished a feed from Cade Ryan, putting OLLU ahead 1–0. Paul Quinn worked to settle in defensively as goalkeeper Morgan Kendall kept his side in the match with three first-half saves.
Coming out of halftime, the Tigers turned the tide. In the 55th minute, Arturr Scanavez Marins capitalized on a chance in the box to level the score, his first goal of the season. Just over 15 minutes later, Paul Quinn surged ahead when Juan Mendoza connected off an assist from Adrian Castro, giving the Tigers a 2–1 advantage.
The match reached a boiling point in the 72nd minute, when both teams saw red cards issued—Paul Quinn's Charlie Fisher and OLLU's Thomas Sauceda were both sent off, leaving each side with ten men.
Despite the momentum, the Saints responded quickly. In the 79th minute, substitute Caleb Chagoy equalized with an unassisted strike, bringing the scoreline to 2–2.
Statistically, OLLU held the edge in total shots (12–7) and corner kicks (11–6), but Paul Quinn was more clinical with six of its seven attempts on frame. Goalkeeper Kendall finished with three saves for the Tigers, while OLLU's Zak Averns turned away four shots.
The contest was physical throughout, featuring 10 yellow cards and two red cards combined. Paul Quinn committed 15 fouls compared to OLLU's 8, while both sides had stretches where tensions boiled over.
With the result, Paul Quinn showed grit in earning a road draw against a conference rival, rallying from an early deficit and nearly securing a comeback win. The Tigers will look to build on the performance and carry their second-half energy into their next outing.
