Paul Quinn Women Roll Past Texas College 67–56 Behind Brown’s Double-Double
TYLER, Texas — Nov. 17, 2025 — Zaire Brown posted 18 points and 12 rebounds, and Paul Quinn used a dominant first quarter to defeat Texas College 67–56 on Monday evening at Gus F. Taylor Gymnasium.
Paul Quinn (4–2) opened the game on a 19–7 run, shooting 53 percent in the first quarter and never relinquished the lead. Brown powered the Tigers in the paint, finishing 6 of 13 from the field and a perfect 6 for 6 at the foul line.
The Tigers shot 45.5 percent overall and a stellar 14 of 15 at the line, receiving balanced scoring across the lineup. Cierra Taylor added 11 points and four rebounds, while Tamia Dolls scored eight and hit two of Paul Quinn's three 3-pointers. Freshman guard Canai McPherson gave the Tigers an important spark off the bench with 13 points in nine minutes.
Texas College (1–4) struggled early, shooting just 16.7 percent in the first quarter before recovering to play even the rest of the way. Titerria Pyburn led the Steers with 14 points, while Fae Green added 11 off the bench. Neani Stewart and Codee Roland each scored eight.
Paul Quinn forced 11 steals and turned Texas College's six turnovers into transition scoring, helping maintain a double-digit cushion through most of the second half. The Steers closed the gap to nine in the final quarter, but Brown and McPherson answered with late baskets to secure the win.
Paul Quinn returns home later this week before opening conference play.
