Paul Quinn Women’s Soccer Falls 4–1 at Our Lady of the Lake
September 7, 2025 | San Antonio, TX The Paul Quinn College women’s soccer team battled hard on the road Sunday afternoon but came up short against Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU), falling 4–1 in San Antonio.
The Saints came out firing early, striking three times in the opening 15 minutes to build a commanding lead. Angela Garcia opened the scoring in the 7th minute, finishing off a pass from Leah Tapia. Just six minutes later, Garcia struck again with help from Eleonora Diversi, who then added a goal of her own less than a minute later to make it 3–0.
Despite the early deficit, Paul Quinn regrouped after halftime and showed resilience. In the 59th minute, freshman forward Mia Hawkins gave the Tigers a spark when she buried an unassisted goal, her first of the season, cutting the margin to 3–1. Hawkins was active throughout the match, recording all three of her shots on target.
The Saints quickly responded, however, as Hannah Brookfield extended the lead back to three goals in the 63rd minute on an assist from Miya Haehnel, sealing the 4–1 final.
Statistically, OLLU controlled the game, outshooting Paul Quinn 16–4 and putting 12 shots on target. Tigers goalkeeper Fernanda Rosas had a busy afternoon, collecting seven saves against the Saints' relentless attack. On the other side, OLLU keeper London Suarez made three saves on four shots faced.
The match grew physical in the second half, with three yellow cards issued—including two to Paul Quinn (Jackie Aguilar, Anahi Bernal) and one to OLLU's Alexzia Gamez.
Paul Quinn finished with two corner kicks and six fouls, while OLLU earned four corners and committed four fouls.
With the result, Paul Quinn continues its road stretch looking for its first win of the season, while Our Lady of the Lake picked up momentum behind strong offensive showings from Garcia and Diversi.
The Tigers will look to bounce back in their next match as they continue building on the energy shown in the second half against a tough OLLU side.
